Welcome
Welcome to the web site for the Peach County (GA) Fire Department Explorer Post 900.
The PCFD's Fire Explorer Program began in 2006 with eight members and has continually grown in membership. This great group of 14- to 18-year-old young men and women of Peach County, Georgia, has a genuine interest in firefighting and possibly a career as firefighters with the Peach County Fire Department. The program is affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America.
Fire Explorers have the opportunity to learn first-hand about what it takes to become a firefighter. As they progress through the training program, the Fire Explorers learn how exciting a firefighter's job can be by working side-by-side with actual Peach County firefighters.
Fire Explorers wear uniforms and are dressed similarly to firefighters when they respond to a call. Fire Explorers are provided with helmets, turnouts, and other safety clothing.
The Fire Explorers are volunteers that are welcomed by all members of the Peach County Fire Department. They observe and participate in routine firefighter duties by working side-by-side with the firefighters at the Peach County fire stations and at other locations. Such duties include fire station and equipment maintenance and community relations.
Members of Fire Explorer Post 900 undergo supervised training and testing throughout the program.
Being a Fire Explorer is an excellent opportunity for young people. This supervised program can assist in developing those personal traits, qualities, and skills that will be helpful and necessary in nearly any future field of endeavor.
The Peach County Fire Department is honored to participate in the program.
